Hi everyone

I wondered if anyone could throw a bit of light on this for me?

I’ve worked hard at getting some good back links for my online shop, and guess I probably have quite a few now.

However If I look at link: (my web address) in google its showing up as no back links.

Does anyone know why this might be? Is it something to do with the company name being R xxx and my web address being www.xxxx.com

I’m totally confused.

I have seen many quaries in various forums where people wondering “After all the link building i had donw , why google not listing all my backlinks ?”

Lets take a look about two sites Just for study purpose)

Site 1 :

URI : mobile9.com It a Mobile site

Backlinks in google : 863( try link:mobile9.com search on google , 6th april 2009)

Backlinks in yahoo : 923,808

Percentage of backlinks listed by google with respect to yahoo : .92 or 1 %

Site 2 :

URI: techseol.com Home page of a SEO company

Backlinks in google : 75 (6th april 2009)

Backlinks in yahoo : 2184

Percentage of backlinks listed by google with respect to yahoo : 3.34 %

Conclutions ( Not so accurate , just based on above results)

• Google won’t list all the backlinks of a site by the quary (link:mysite.com)
• At the time Yahoo list most of the backlinks
• Google lists less than 5% of the total links listed by yahoo .

I know a few questions arises in your mind now

• ” So all my links not listed in google are not valuable or discounted?”

Answer : No all the links have it’s value . Noone except google can give the actual value .

• “So how can I see all my backlinks ?”

Answer : Go to google webmasters tools(google.com/webmasters/tools) . Add your site there are verify . Then click on the links tab and you can see all your backlinks and the date at which that backlink was idetified by google .

Social Media :

Sites that is based on user participation and user-generated content are called social media . They include social networking sites like LinkedIn or Facebook, social bookmarking sites like Del.icio.us, social news sites like Digg or Sphinn, and so many other sites.

Social Media Optimisation(SMO) :

Social Media Optimisation is the process of generating traffic , brand and buzz by participating in various social media sites. Social media allows people with same interest and views to come together,participate and share their ideas and knowledge.

Social Media Sites :

Myspace is a Social Networking site with millions of users (around 189 Million) . Here links are re-directed , so no SEO value , but can acquire trafic.

Face Book got around 90 Million users . Face book allows HTML tags , but the pages are not indexed by search engines . So you can except traffic.
